"Bodeswell" (now permanently registered with the Canadian Kennel Club) is a small hobby kennel operated by Nancy Patterson and Craig Inward. We have owned dogs together since 1995 and have loved a number of breeds. Our focus today is the Chinese Crested Dog, which owns our hearts. We are located one hour north of Toronto, Ontario, Canada, on a small farm where the dogs run our lives and live in our house (and in our bed!) with us.
Our registered kennel name, Bodeswell, was created to use the letters, B, O, and D; to honour our first dogs, Buci, Ollie and Deli, who lived out their lives as much loved pets.
Atticus (Am.Can.Ch.Dragonsong's Atticus), a true showman of a whippet, was the start of our journey into the world of showing and breeding dogs, and this journey continues with unabated enthusiasm. While we are no longer breeding whippets, we still enjoy the company of a couple of seniors.
Nancy fell in love with the Crested's sighthound like physiques and bouncy personalities at the shows and just had to have one (ha!). Harry (Multi-Sel. Am.Can.Ch.Caravel's Hairy Houdini) was our first Crested and was truly an exceptional example of the breed. He always had the bearing of a King.
As a hobby, dog showing has been very rewarding for us. Over the years we have finished 50 Canadian Championships and 17 American Championships (including a number of specialty wins) on 51 dogs; 28 of which were from our breeding program with more to come!
We have been involved in various other activities with our dogs - primarilly Whippet racing - where we had some success with our English import Boris (Can.Ch.Chapliegh Amazing Grace RChS, RChO ) who was ranked 9th by CARA (Canadian Amateur Racing Association) in Canada in combined racing points (straights and ovals) in 2002 on his way to earning his RChS and RChO titles.
Nancy is the current president of the Chinese Crested Club of Canada and the newly formed Chinese Crested Club of Ontario.
